    Building Your Professional Wardrobe

These days my closet is quite full with professional work attire. I really try to get pieces that I can both wear professionally and for fun, however this is a constant struggle. My work/ professional wardrobe is me. It’s the professional Jessica, and let’s face it if you know me you know professional Jessica just like everyday Jessica has to look on point all the time. When I first started building my professional wardrobe (years ago) I struggled to not spend an arm and leg. I have learned over the years the best and most reasonably priced stores to ensure I look my best each and everyday. I know clothes…

    Roadmap to Success

As I sit here on another flight, traveling to yet another meeting, I sit thinking. Thinking of all I accomplished and thinking of those mountains I still want to climb (figuratively). Yes, I am proud of myself and where I am at in life, but that doesn’t mean I can’t manifest bigger dreams for my future. It doesn’t mean I get to stop pushing and trying. It doesn’t mean I accept that this is the end of the road too career growth. It means I keep going. I keep climbing that ladder as my Dad would say. I keep building out my roadmap to success. People don’t get to where they…

    Confessions of a Workaholic

I am and will always be a workaholic. Being a workaholic doesn’t just apply to my job but my life. I find it extremely hard to sit still and always need to be doing something. Recently on top of work we have been painting, furnishing and doing house projects. That is also on top of the normal everyday/week cleaning, errands, laundry, meals and everything else that inserts itself into our lives. I thrive living this lifestyle though. Being busy and a workaholic helps me prioritize everything perfectly (maybe it’s not always perfect, but I like to think so). How do I Survive? Listen to my body: If I need a…

    “Boss Bitch”

I just read one of the best books I have read in a long time. It is by far the best professional development book I have read to date. Nicole Lapin, really hit it out of the park with “Boss Bitch.” Nicole you did a fabulous job on this book! I am recommending every “boss bitch” read this book. I love Nicole’s fluency, she speaks freely and is just herself. She doesn’t stray away from saying exactly what she thinks, and I LOVE IT!   “ A woman is like a teabag; you never know how strong it is until it’s in the hot water.” -Eleanor Roosevelt-   “Boss…

A Morning Routine Sure to Get You Going

Rise and shine it’s bootie kicking time! Are you the person that rolls over in the morning and pushes snooze on your alarm. While I am sure you know that’s a bad habit, I am going to tell you IT’S AN EXTREMELY BAD HABIT. Get out of bed, get your day started, don’t let your body dwell on what it can’t have; more sleep. While I was never one to super sleep in growing up, I wasn’t one to get up at 6AM. I always thought my parents were nuts. I am now that “nuts.” We are up everyday between 5-6:30 AM. Somedays I willingly wake up then and some…

    Becoming the Boss

I am always on a mission to become a better professional me. I am constantly taking note of other professionals in my field and trying to improve on everything I do. If you think you are perfect in everyway right now, wake up and smell the roses. No one is perfect, and  you can always use more development. Fight the urge to become complacent with where you are at professionally, and keep on climbing the corporate ladder. One of the many things I strive to do weekly, to keep myself climbing that corporate ladder is reading books. I am always reading a “fun book” and a development book. This month…
