    Lost Dog Lane

I had surgery this week. The need for surgery originated from an accident back in January, where I got hit by a car secondary to a faulty Kong collar. The accident caused significant trauma to my growth plate and a spiral fracture. As a result, every 6 weeks, since January, I have had to see a surgeon and get imaging done. The crazy orthopedic software the surgeon has, let him see if my leg was growing normally or not. Last week we found out the radial side of my growth plate shut down, and surgery was needed. I went into surgery Monday this week and did well. My Mom and…

    Rioja 2012

Red with envy this week as Mom & Dad got to go to Carmel-by-the-Sea and Monterey for a wedding this past weekend. I keep hearing Mom say to Dad how gorgeous it was and how amazing the beach was. Why didn’t they take me? I would have happily dominated that beach with my charcoal grey sexy bod? Apparently I have to have 2 legs to fly and I have four. Talk about discrimination. Drowning out Mom’s ranting and raving on their amazing weekend with some red wine this week. Who’s with me? Wine: Ramierez de la Piscina Rioja 2012 Origin: Rioja, Spain Price Point: $20 Taste: Warm tannins with notes…

    Beringer Vineyards-Founders’ Estate Pinot Grigio

Puppy life has been a bit rough lately. These ear infections are killing me, why don’t they just go away? I have been taking way to many medications for my liking. Mom and Dad are always trying to squeeze them in some sort of food, however I out smart them 9 times out of 10. To help wash down those pills when they do outsmart me I have taken to this delicious pinot grigio. I wouldn’t say it’s one of those rare occasion wines, but more an everyday wine, with the price point to match. Wine: Beringer Vineyards-Founders’ Estate Pinot Grigio Origin: California Price Point: $10 Where to Buy: Your…

Cara Mia – Pinot Grigio “In a Box”

Taking a little different review this week for “Wine Wednesday” today I am giving you my review on a boxed wine. Yes, I said it, I drink boxed wine, and it actually isn’t too bad. Mom says boxed wine has come a long way since she used to drink it and slap the bag in college whatever that means. Mom said there used to be weekend activities surround around awful boxed wine, such as the Tour de Franzia. This box of wine isn’t awful. In fact it has become a staple in the fridge and one I can help carry up the stairs for Mom after she is done grocery…

    Cote Des Roses Rosé

Rosé season has officially begun. I am sure I will have to take a break from it here and there as the weather here in Denver is bipolar and the 60s won’t last, but I am going to enjoy it while I can. I have thoroughly enjoyed the “patio” life, chilling with my glass of rosé next to me. The warm/cool breeze blowing my ears, ahh the doggy life. My eyes were a bit big when Mom brought home the Cote des Roses. The bottle, it’s HUGE! More than my puppy belly can take in, in a sitting. It also is very artsy. Mom is trying to get me to…

    Sunscript Cabernet Sauvignon

I was so hopeful and so in need of a delicious cabernet this week. It’s been one of those weeks where the squirrels and bunnies just don’t stop. I have been on watch duty for more than your typical 8 hour days. Gosh I have a “ruff” life. I was just getting off the night shift and really looking forward to some wine and decided to try the Sunscript Cabernet. To my disappointment is was WAY too sweet, even for a dog with a sweet tooth like me. I did finish my glass, but I wouldn’t recommend this wine again, and I will make sure it doesn’t make it to…

    Saint-Émilion Grand Cru 2014

Adventuring to France today with Saint Émilion Grand Cru. I was a bit taken back by this wine at first, as it wasn’t what I expected. The problem was I needed it right away to pair with my peanut butter bone and I didn’t let it breathe enough. This wine definitely needs to breathe for a good half hour before you attempt to drink it. Let’s just say the pairing was no longer, it was peanut butter bone and then my wine. Oh well I guess. “Another red you say, red is my favorite, besides bubbles, bubbles top all.” Saint Émilion Grand Cru 2014 Tasting Notes: A light red wine…

    Cabernet Vs. Zinfandel

Happy Valentines Day! I decided to try two different wines this week. Why you ask? My second round of imaging went well and it seems my leg is growing normally, which gives me all the reason to celebrate as surgery isn’t needed right now. I can’t seem to get myself away from my red wine kick. They are just so darn delicious. I am sharing both a cabernet and a surprisingly delicious zinfandel. Both of these wines came from Moms monthly wine box; um you guys need in on this.  It’s called Firstleaf and it’s fabulous. They provide Christmas every month. Who knew you could get Christmas every month? “Two…

Hawthorne Grove Dark & Spicy Red

My love for wine and the wine club (Firstleaf) that Mom joined, continues to grow. My palate gets increasingly diversified every week. I am still supposed to be taking it a bit easy with my leg and so wine calms my nerves and anxiety and lets me just relax. I can’t wait to play with my friends again, but until then I have made a friend in what mom calls “fermented kool aid.” I am back to my red wine this week with a red blend. This week’s wine review: Hawthorne Grove-Dark and Spicy Red 2014 Tasting Notes: A dark burgundy color with more transparent edges when tilted on it’s…

    Grifone Bianco & Pinot Grigio

It’s a two for one glass kind of week. The stress and anxiety from having to not run, jump and play like I want too, is getting to me. Especially when Mom yells at me to lay down and to not play like a crazy man. While the “no Duke don’t jump,” and “no Duke don’t play,” yells were coming out of Mom’s mouth I stuck my head in a large doggy bowl of wine and drowned her voice out. Mom…let’s be real here I am a puppy with enough energy to power a large city. Me staying still is an oxymoron. “Made with organic grapes…ok…” This week’s wine review:…
