    Girl Wash Your Face

I bow down to you Rachel Hollis for writing this book and sharing your vulnerabilities with us. “Girl Wash Your Face” is an extremely relatable book. It reflects on all the everyday things we as woman, men and parents think, but no one really says out loud. Society has placed a pedestal on having a glamorized life, when in fact the reality is that we are all human beings. We are human beings who make mistakes, grow from those mistakes and fall down but get back up. Rachel elaborates on numerous “lies” and tells the sole truth. The truth that many of us know, but don’t have the strength to…

    “Whiskey in a Teacup”

What a book, and one I couldn’t put down. I started reading “Whiskey in a Teacup,” prior to our wedding, but with that crazy I didn’t get very far into it. The other night, when my nose was a bit stuffy and I was a bit chilled, I threw on some pjs, my robe and grabbed a glass of wine and read from around page 25 all the way through. I know I should have indulged in whiskey in a teacup literally, but the glass of red wine sounded more appealing at the time. Dorothea always said that it was a combination of beauty and strength that made souther women…

    Rich Bitch

It seems like ages since I have done a book review. In between moving and living with friends and wedding planning my reading took the back burner for a little bit. I fortunately got time to relax in our hammock camping the other weekend and read and let all other distractions take the back burner. I previously read Boss Bitch by Nicole Lapin and loved it (book review linked here). Rich Bitch wasn’t my favorite. I don’t know if it’s because I have read quite a few make me financially savvy books, and the content was very similar, or if the lessons she has given most are already applied in…

    “Boss Bitch”

I just read one of the best books I have read in a long time. It is by far the best professional development book I have read to date. Nicole Lapin, really hit it out of the park with “Boss Bitch.” Nicole you did a fabulous job on this book! I am recommending every “boss bitch” read this book. I love Nicole’s fluency, she speaks freely and is just herself. She doesn’t stray away from saying exactly what she thinks, and I LOVE IT!   “ A woman is like a teabag; you never know how strong it is until it’s in the hot water.” -Eleanor Roosevelt-   “Boss…

    Becoming the Boss

I am always on a mission to become a better professional me. I am constantly taking note of other professionals in my field and trying to improve on everything I do. If you think you are perfect in everyway right now, wake up and smell the roses. No one is perfect, and  you can always use more development. Fight the urge to become complacent with where you are at professionally, and keep on climbing the corporate ladder. One of the many things I strive to do weekly, to keep myself climbing that corporate ladder is reading books. I am always reading a “fun book” and a development book. This month…

    Woman Up!

Climbing the corporate ladder isn’t an easy challenge to take on. It’s hard work, dedication and boat loads of time. Being the best person I can be not only in my personal life, but my professional career, has always been and IS an aspiration of mine. There IS always room to grow, to be better, to develop more skills or to try new ones. Some of the most successful people are the ones who are the most well rounded. The ones who are prepared to handle all different situations, and who stand their ground. “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” -Elanor Roosevelt- I…

Financial Independence: “The Simple Path to Wealth” Book Review

Financial independence is one of those things that used to scare me. Don’t get me wrong finances can be extremely stressful at times and there are times I still cringe at the thought of managing them. That cringe has gotten less and less as I have educated myself. Now you are thinking how in the world am I going to sit and read books/articles to educate myself without falling asleep? I found the book, “The Simple Path to Wealth,” to be incredibly easy to read and very insightful. Don’t get me wrong you can’t just read this book and be 100% proficient with your finances but it’s a darn good…
