Rich Bitch

It seems like ages since I have done a book review. In between moving and living with friends and wedding planning my reading took the back burner for a little bit. I fortunately got time to relax in our hammock camping the other weekend and read and let all other distractions take the back burner.

I previously read Boss Bitch by Nicole Lapin and loved it (book review linked here). Rich Bitch wasn’t my favorite. I don’t know if it’s because I have read quite a few make me financially savvy books, and the content was very similar, or if the lessons she has given most are already applied in my life. Don’t get me wrong this book was a great fast read (read it in one day) and has good content for those of your who know nothing about finances, but it wasn’t for me.

While I know what I need to do to make myself a “rich bitch,” I don’t always follow all the rules. No one’s perfect. This book was a great reminder and reinforcement of the things I have stored in this brain.

Why Be Financially Savvy?

You never know what is going to happen in life. I HIGHLY recommend you be able to support yourself. If something were to happen are you able to support yourself with your own income? I am not saying it has to be pretty but are you? Always take care of yourself and be able to support yourself. This will not only help you be confident in you, but you will be helping support your family and contribute to it’s well being.

One of the things I love most about my fiancé is he isn’t afraid of a little competition and a partner who strives to be a “rich bitch.”  Quite a few guys would be bothered by this, but he isn’t. He supports me being financially stable and not relying on him for everything. He supports the competition I bring to the table and values me.

Ladies and gents if this isn’t you and you aren’t financially stable I encourage you to pick up this book. As I stated above it does have a lot of good information and is an extremely quick read.

Book Review

Author Nicole Lapin walks you through where to start in being a “rich bitch;” growing further, and all the way to retirement. She does a very nice job at illustrating all the components of being a “rich bitch” and really brings it down to a relatable level. I love that Nicole adds real life examples in the story so it’s not super dry and definition after definition. In saying that though, Nicole does include a glossary of financial terms at the end of the book, of which, I found super helpful. You don’t see as detailed of a glossary in most books so I commend her for that.

Whether you are super financially savvy already, know some about finances or know nothing about finances I do recommend you read this book. If nothing else it will solidify those values you already have in your brain that may be buried under a heap of other information.
