Bridal Party Slumber Party

Don’t you just love a good slumber party? It seems like when I was younger I had them all the time, but as life gets more chaotic with age these slumber parties have taken a halt. Why do they have to end though?

Before I first got engaged I knew I wanted to have my bridal party spend the night at our house the night before the wedding. I absolutely adore girl time, as most woman do. I figured what better way to pre-start off wedding day than to get in some pjs and relax.

Let’s Get This Party Started

The bridal party slumber party began immediately following rehearsal dinner, and as the word slumber party suggests, lasted all night. Don’t worry we didn’t stay up all night, we got some rest.

The energy was electric after arriving back at our house post rehearsal dinner. The girls were super excited, and floating on cloud nine. The wine at dinner may or may not have had something to do with that. Let’s be real here, what’s a wedding party without wine? Not my wedding party, I will tell you that. Let’s just say these girls are #allthebliss for the short version.

The girls entered into our house that was decorated to perfection. I had purchased roughly 15 bundles of fresh mums from Trader Joes a few days prior and made numerous vases around the house. Additionally, there were over 40 balloons, because who doesn’t love some good balloon decor for a special event. No we don’t have Vroom Vroom Balloon as my friend Living with Landyn boasts about, but we do have a Party City and I do have a creative mind.

I had the balloons tied to the bridesmaids gifts and to champagne bottles then all throughout the house. The champagne bottles were the perfect weight for the bundles and added a little extra to the house. Why not see champagne bottles as decor while you are drinking it? The house was officially adorned and ready for the slumber party bliss.

Bridesmaid Gifts

I gave all my bridesmaids their gifts at the beginning of the slumber party. I got each of the girls a Rebecca Minkoff tote filled with JCrew Pajamas, Champagne, monogrammed flannel PJ shirt (used to get ready in) and socks for the PJ party and wedding day. Each bag had a white heart shaped balloon tied to the top.

I found the most adorable bag tags on Amazon that were square with a heart shape, I have linked them here for you, as they are a steal for the quantity you get and are super fun. As the totes were identical I used the cute tags to put their names on them.

As much as I “spilled the beans” about their gifts ahead of time the girls were surprised at exactly what they got. The Rebecca Minkoff totes I bought were a blue/grey so they would match for the girls on wedding day (primary wedding colors blue and grey). This way they had something to cart all of their stuff around with them all day.

If you read my “Will you be my Bridesmaid” post you remember I also got them makeup bags. The makeup bags weren’t by random choice, but so they had a uniform makeup bag to put into their tote for wedding day. All the planning that goes into this stuff is insane, but I found it to be so much fun.

Pajama Party Bliss

After opening the gift totes and finding pjs, we all immediately undressed in the kitchen and got our matching pjs on. The slumber party bliss was in full swing.  The girls wore JCrew color hydrangea, which is like a light blue and I wore the white. What’s a bride without white pjs? Bridesmaids and Bride on point for the night, matching PJs, socks and all.

I absolutely adores the JCrew PJs I got the girls. They are such fun PJ sets and so comfy. I have linked them here for you and would highly recommend purchasing a set. You won’t regret it, if I do say so myself.

Lingerie Shower

What is a lingerie shower? It’s exactly what you think. The bride being showered with panties, bras and lingerie. I will be the first to admit it, I didn’t know such a thing existed until right before I met my now husband. You see my best of friend who introduced Jake and I told me about this tradition and I fell in love. I told her I had to have one when I got married. That was six and a half years ago and here we are a few weeks back, my little southern bell best friend, throwing me a lingerie shower during the bridal party slumber party.

This lingerie shower was like no other. My girlfriend had lingerie cookies shipped into Colorado from the south, had an actual large fake free brought into our house, bubbles, macaroons, popcorn, you name it, she had it. I have to say if you are in a time crunch or even not, Whole Foods has an amazing selection of macaroons that are incredibly delicious.

The party was super sweet. At first I thought I just got a tree full of panties. It turns out everyone bought what they wanted based off the sizes given to them, and then I unwrapped the gift and placed each item on the tree.  In the end I had a tree full of lingerie, panties and bras. I can officially say I do not need to shop for any of those items for awhile. I was adorned with so many lingerie shower items and so many is an understatement.

Let’s Dance

After the lingerie shower the bridesmaids and I all decided to get our dance on. You see, I required the wedding party to know the wobble for the wedding, so the bridal party and I had to freshen up on our moves. One of my good friends lead the pack. We had all the giggles practicing the wobble. I guess we were succeeding at burning a few extra calories hours before wedding day arrived.

Sweet Dreams

Most of us did pretty well and were in bed by 10:00 PM and sleeping shortly after. There were a few stragglers that didn’t make it to bed until super late and most likely regretted it the next day. I will never know though as that was the least of my worries wedding day. I just told them they had to be bright eyed and bushy tailed and they were.

There were 10 girls/moms/aunt(s) that slept in the house the night before our wedding. We all slept comfortably. A few people on air mattresses, but hey it did the trick.

Rise and Shine it’s Wedding Day Time

Waking up with all my beloved girls beside me the day of my wedding is something I will never forget. The slumber party was all the bliss and more.  If you aren’t married yet, or even if you are, I would highly recommend planning a slumber party. They are so rejuvenating and for some reason girls just get girls better than guys do, and that’s exactly what you need sometimes.

Cheers!

XOXO
