Wisconsin Wedding Shower

Last weekend was truly an amazing weekend. I was surrounded by friends and family for my Wisconsin Wedding Shower. It was a fabulous weekend full of food, fun and games to name a few. The shower exceeded all expectations I could have ever had for a wedding shower and the memories are a permanent reminder of just how loved I am.

Preface

While I was in college I worked for an amazing family in the Madison area basically doing anything and everything that was needed. It was the best job, not only for the flexibility while carrying a full college load, but for the family I worked with and grew to know and now call part of my family. The amazing Suzanne and Laurel Kate threw my wedding shower, and I couldn’t be more thankful that they did.

My Arrival

The Wisconsin wedding shower weekend started off with my arrival late late Thursday night/Friday morning. When I arrived at the family house I was in awe too see I had custom embroidered towels with “JUH” on them, standing for Jessica Utzig (finances last name) Hotter (my last name). It was a thoughtful touch and one that I won’t forget. Not only did I get the beautiful towel set on my bed, but a snickers was left there too. You see my Dad, who joined heaven too soon, loved snickers. The thought that went into putting a snickers on my bed in memory of him for the weekend was EXTREMELY thoughtful and touching.

Wedding Shower

  • Theme: Bridal Brunch-Jessica’s Boundless Bliss
The Details

The wedding shower morning started out with this adorable flower arrangement of pins for myself, my bridesmaids who attended this shower, my mom and god mother who is my bridal attendant. Such a thoughtful item to make the wedding party feel loved.

Another one of the details I loved about my wedding shower was the sign that read “Jessica’s Boundless Bliss.” This meant and means a lot to me. As you can see my blog is called “Boundless Bliss,” so it was extremely thoughtful and special that this was included in my day.

The Drinks

Shortly after I pinned the wedding party we delved into the mimosa bar. Yes, you heard me right I had a mimosa bar, and this was only one of the many things I had which I LOVED. If you know me you know I LOVE bubbles and so that was extremely up my ally. I happily helped make everyone mimosa’s in their custom name champagne flutes. Yes, everyone got their own champagne flute with their name on it. Another super cute touch. There was fresh fruit cut up with the mimosa bar as a garnish and numerous juices: pomegranate, orange, mango and pineapple. We had so much fun making different flavor mimosas, it was fabulous.

Another of my favorites at the shower was the coffee bar. Again if you know me, you know I say coffee makes the world go round. The coffee bar had literally everything you could possibly imagine, from the coffee itself to the bailey’s Irish cream, numerous syrups, whip cream, cinnamon sticks and more. I of course made one with some bailey’s as it was just too good to pass up.

The Food

There was an amazing array of food to eat at the shower:

  • Spicy fried chicken with heart shape waffles
  • Granola Yogurt Trifle
  • 3 different quiches
  • Rosemary Garlic Red Potatoes
  • Cinnamon Bread with Amish Rolled Butter
  • Honey Ham & Hawaiian Rolls
  • Lemon Blueberry Cake

The food was extremely delicious and of course I ate way too much but it was so worth it!

Games

We played 3 games all which were extremely fun and got everyone giggling and having a grand old time. The first game was one where Jake, my fiancé was asked to answer 16 questions as to who is better at what. For example, who is the better cook and who’s car is cleaner. Let’s just say I don’t think all of his answers were extremely truthful as I didn’t score a perfect 16, but it was super fun!

The next game was a mad lib that the whole crew helped me write my vows. This was absolutely hilarious. Of course my god mother throws in the word “orgasm” and at the exact right spot of the vows to make it hilarious. There are tons of mad lib print outs online. I would highly recommend having whoever is throwing your shower do this or if you are throwing a shower for someone else do this for them. I laughed so hard I cried reading these vows to everyone. What a treat and a special memory.

The last game we played was pin the kiss on “Jake” my fiancé. Everyone had to put lipstick on and be spun around in circles and try to kiss Jake on the lips. I failed miserably but my sister of course was the one to plant the kiss directly on Jakes lips. Another super fun game that I would recommend.

Traditions

Apparently it’s a tradition to make the bride a veil on her wedding shower day with all the ribbons and bows on all the gifts. I had no idea this was a thing but it was super fun. The ladies made me a veil out of a University of Wisconsin (Badgers) plate, which was super fun and definitely a challenge to get to stay on this head. Another tradition is I am too keep all these ribbons and bows and my rehearsal dinner bouquet is to be made from them. Again, I had no idea this was a thing. Maybe I have been way out in left field when it comes to traditions with stuff? I feel like I have been on top of my game though.

Pool Party

After all the food, games and gifts we had a pool party were I officially “took the plunge.” I literally jumped in the pool white swim suit, veil, flowers and all and plunged. It was a fabulous way to end the shower party and a symbol of the “plunge” I will be taking in a few months when I marry my partner in crime.

Parting Gifts

It was sad to see people leave, as I wish the day could last forever, but upon departure everyone who attended got a mini glittered champagne bottle and their personalized champagne flute to take home with them. The super detailed touch on them with a note stating, “Before the first sip you take. Make a toast to Jess and Jake. Tag them or text so they will know. How much they are loved before the bottle goes.” This has been so much fun. I have gotten pictures already of people popping their champagne bottles.

Parting Thoughts

What a fabulous weekend full of so much love. I truly feel blessed to be surrounded by the best family and friends. I don’t do people taking care of me very well, as I like to take care of everyone else, but it was good/hard to let loose and just be loved.

Thanks all who attended and a big thank you to the amazing Suzanne and Laurel Kate for the shower of a lifetime.

Cheers
XOXO

This was truly the most elegant, creative, fun, loving, and playful bridal showers I’ve ever attended. Not only will it be a moment for you ‘Hermione’ to be forever remembered, it’s a shared experience that I will never forget…
