Spring Happiness

Some of the spring flowers have started to emerge here in Colorado and it’s a welcomed site. Anyone else hate the transition between Winter and Spring; the dreary brown color, empty branches and mud? The transition period is always a struggle for me. I just want it green, and for there to be vibrance now.

I am sharing a few things I do to keep me happily patient waiting for all the wonderful colors of Spring and then Summer:

1. Iced Coffee

Iced coffee/ americanos are definitely a pick me up. I switch over my hot coffee at Starbucks to the iced delights. There is something about being able to drink a cold drink that makes me feel like the warmth is coming. My go to: Venti iced americano with an extra shot.

2. Flowers

I keep cut flowers in our house year round. You may think I am crazy OR what a waste of money. SECRET trick for you guys though, I get my flowers at Trader Joes. I always get either sunflowers or mums. Both of these flower bundles tend to last me 2-4 weeks. I keep up trimming them weekly and giving them fresh water and their beautiful abundance stays. The best part they are only $4-$5.

3. Patio Happy Hours

While some days are still a bit too cool for a patio happy hour, we have had some 70 degree days here in Colorado already. These days have been a perfect excuse to meet up with friends and grab a drink.

4. Spring Cocktails

Rosé and Moscow Mules are back in full swing. Check out my Moscow Mule post for my fresh take on Moscow Mules. My favorite Rosé happens to be Jolie a Folle, which means crazy beautiful. You can find this at most major liquor/wine stores.

5. Spruce up your wardrobe

My go to place for cute spring clothes is JCrew Factory. I also love Nordstrom Rack. Both tend to have fabulous deals and super cute clothes. The below top is one of the pieces I purchased from JCrew Factory recently. It’s a beautiful wrap grey sweater (linked here).

6. Get your Fitness on Outdoors

Despite the “brown” appearance all around you, take a walk or run and listen to the birds, frogs, or if you are in the city, all the different sounds and people out and about. The fresh air is sure to put a bit more swing in your step.

7. Check out some local festivals

I absolutely adore local festivals and events. It is so much fun observing and trying new things. There is bound to be something going on in your neighborhood/city this time of year. If you are in Denver check out Two Parts for great weekend/weekday events.

8. Farmers Markets

All Farmers Markets start at different times, some sooner than others. I recommend looking up when yours starts and attending. Pick up some local produce and make a fun dinner on the grill.  My favorite: curling up with some red wine with a blanket on the patio while my significant other grills (pretty much LOVE THIS).

What do you do to keep your eye on the bliss around you?
