Moscow Mules

Work like a mule, drink like a mule, right? I am not meaning your day job work, I am meaning the house work that never ends. There is always something that has to be done, but tis life. While we work on odds and ends tonight, a moscow mule was definitely in order, and is in hand.

Moscow mules are a “newer” obsession for me. When I say “newer” I mean in the last few years. They are a fabulous spring/summer drink! The one thing I do not like is the difficulty I have finding a not too sweet ginger beer. They tend to be full of unwanted sugar. A couple of my favorite ginger beers:

  • Fever Tree Premium Ginger Beer
  • Spectacular Ginger Beer

There is a delicious spicy ginger beer at Sprouts that I sometimes get, however I am not seeming to find the name of it right now. I will update you if I find it.

Moscow Mule

If all I have is a “sugar” rich ginger beer I will use it, however put more lime juice in the mule instead of ginger beer. This way I balance out of the over sweet and still get a refreshing beverage.

My take on a Moscow Mule is slightly different than the one you get served up at a bar, or maybe even the one you are used to making. I add fresh ginger to my Moscow Mule. It makes it a bit more scrumptious. Can scrumptious be used to describe cocktails or is it just for food? Anyways it’s delicious and a must try.
