Getting Your Health & Fitness On

Getting my health and fitness on is an everyday adventure. I “try” to eat healthy most days and workout at least 5-6 days a week. When I say I “try” to eat healthy, I mean most of the time I do, however I eat everything I like in moderation. Moderation I believe is key to a healthy lifestyle. I see so many people going on different diets and giving up certain types of food. I do not feel you have to do this. I love carbs, like most woman, and dessert happens to be my middle name, not really, but that’s how much I like it. I limit myself to carbs once a week and have a little sweet every day. This helps me from over binging on it. I find going on a “diet” that cuts out certain foods, especially foods you love, isn’t realistic. You go on the diet for a couple months, or even a year and then go back to normal eating and overeat/binge on the things you love, that you deprived your body of. Listen to your body.

Getting Workout Ready

Moderation and balance is key in life, not only with food but with fitness as well. When I say I workout 5-6 days a week, I diversify all of these workouts. I don’t solely run 6 days a week, or just do cardio. Mixing up your workout with cardio and weights is key. While I won’t get into the specific workouts I do here, I will get you started on the right path. As I stated in my “weekly prep” blog post, I plan my workouts for the entire week on Sunday’s, prior to the week starting. This helps hold me accountable for those workouts. It’s best to write your workouts down so you can check them off as you do them. Writing the workouts down and checking them off holds you even more accountable.

Workout Ready

While working out and eating right/in moderation are key components to my everyday health and wellbeing I also drink plenty of water. I at least drink three tumblers (total 60 ounces) of water a day, not including the sparkling water I drink. I also have a green tea daily. Green tea has numerous known health benefits. One benefit I notice from drinking plenty of water and a green tea is I am not so bloated and my body feels much better.

Healthy You

A day in the life of Hotter’s Health Tips
  • Eat a high protein breakfast. I almost always have hard boiled eggs. My fiance purchased the amazing egg cooker off Amazon (link here and below), that makes the hard boiled egg daily, an easy feat.
  • Don’t skip breakfast. Skipping breakfast makes your body think it’s starving itself and then next time you eat your body will try to store everything you eat, so that if you “starve” yourself again it has stores to fuel your body.
  • Drink 3 blender bottles full of water. I add half a lemon in mine daily. I am not big on plain water and the lemon gives it a little kick. Using a blender bottle helps hold me accountable for drinking enough water each day (link below)  ***I make myself drink at least one blender bottle (30 ounces) of water before I will allow myself to have my coffee.
  • Workout at least 40-60 minutes 5-6 times a week. Don’t be afraid to sweat. Sweat doesn’t hurt.
  • Drink 1 Green Tea daily (link below). I am currently on a box of green tea that has mint in it. I tell you, it’s beyond delicious. Green Tea linked here
  • Eat in moderation. If you want a piece of chocolate have one, not the whole bag.
  • Don’t overdo the alcohol. If you want a glass of wine or cocktail to relax after a long day at work, have one, don’t have 5.
  • Do you! What works for one person, doesn’t always work for the next. Feel out what works best for you.
  • I also occasionally drink Rooibos tea (link below) . I try to drink it at least 3 days a week. I personally have found it helps balance my body out a bit more as well.

What are some things you do daily to keep your body in check?

Cheers!
