Harris Port-Late Bottled Vintage
It’s been an extremely stressful, terrifying and traumatizing week to say the least. I was hit by a car and am now down for the count for a significant amount of time. I am lucky to be alive. I am on numerous medications, but none seem to do the trick as much as wine. I divulged my palate in some port this week. It’s the perfect amount of dessert and wine combined. This week’s wine review: Harris Port-Late Bottled Vintage (2010) Tasting Notes: A sweet and rich forefront with a balanced spice after taste. At first taste I thought it was going to be too sweet for me, but the…

FanÇois Daudret Champagne Cuvée
I had the pleasure of sharing my half birthday with my Mom this past weekend. Let’s be real here, it was more my birthday than hers, even though I only turned 6 months. I got to cuddle in the fur blankets, eat cupcakes and take long walks. Oh and I also got to experience Mom open the featured Champagne this week and get it all over her face. Quite entertaining if I do say so myself. She is always the one trying to clean up my face and now I got to return the favor and with Champagne…say what??? “Happy 6 Month Birthday to Me! Gosh I have such a…

Paso Del Tiempo Vinas Viejas Garnacha
I tried the second red in our first wine club shipment, from Firstleaf, this week. It was great to have while I curled up in my blankets in bed as the temperatures have been so frigid. I personally love playing outside in the ice cold, but Mom says it’s too cold. To appease Mom, I passed up the opportunity to have zoomies in the cold and settled for a glass of wine. ““Paso del tiempo” … Pass the time; what a great motto for a wine” This weeks wine review: Paso Del Tiempo Vinas Viejas Garnacha 2015 Tasting Notes: Medium bodied wine. Very smooth with hints of cherry. A little…

Whipstitch
Mom officially subscribed me to a wine club. We have joined firstleaf wine club. I am so excited and barking with joy. Normal dogs get “bark box” monthly subscription boxes; not me I get wine. Best Mom in the world goes to mine. Mom and I tried our first wine this month and it was delicious. This weeks wine review: Whipstitch 2016: 65% Zinfandel; 35% Petite Syrah Tasting Notes: I initially tasted notes of pepper and vanilla. There was a boldness to it at first but then mellowed out. Bolder than last week’s cabernet. Color is a darker plum Price Point: $30 Where to buy: First Leaf Wine Club “The notes…

Gunsight Rock Cabernet Sauvignon
A wine review almost didn’t occur this week guys. I had some serious issues pulling that cork out. It just didn’t want to come. I don’t know if the wine bottle knew I was going to devour it all or if all that chasing the ball up and down the stairs fatigued my muscles, but whew. I finally got it open after minutes of struggle. This bottle proved to be worth that extra muscle struggle and I decided my workout the next day could be skipped. I mean come on, opening a bottle of wine is exercise enough, right? “My paws couldn’t get the bottle open…I thought I was in…

Boyer Pinot Noir
You will never believe this guys, but Mom and Dad’s friends brought me a bottle of wine when they came over for dinner last week! I don’t know if they felt bad for Mom spending time in the kitchen, or for Dad playing all those unfair, catch-me-if-you-can games, but who cares, I got wine! It’s another red review for me this week – temperature is just too cool in the evening to drink anything but. This weeks wine review: Boyer-Pinot Noir (2016) Tasting Notes: A clear ruby red crisp wine; moderate acidity. Notes of: cherry/blackberry and a hint of cigar. Price Point: Normal price $30-$36 (link below you can get…

Wednesday Wine Review: Ravage Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
I am back guys. I know you missed me. I tell ya, this whole holiday thing has been exhausting, and extra wine has been needed…you know – to tone out those people who just don’t shut up. I decided to try a wine at a lower price point this week, but a good find nonetheless, so I could keep feeding my wine addiction. This weeks wine review: Ravage-2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Tasting Notes: A nice luscious red, dark beet color, berries with a hint of vanilla, medium body with low tannins Price Point: $11-$12 Where to buy: Ravage Wines “A decent wine for the…

Wine Wednesday’s with Duke: Blenheim Vineyards
Hi! My name is Duke Utizig I am a charcoal labrador retriever who loves wine. I got fortunate enough a few months back to get welcomed home by my Mom and Dad. Little did I know at the time but my Mom is obsessed with wine. She says a glass of red wine makes the doctor go away. I mischievously took a taste one day and now realize and understand her obsession. I am officially a wine lover and connoisseur and want to share my thoughts and reviews with you. This weeks wine review: Blenheim Vineyards- Painted Red Tasting Notes: Low Tannins, lighter red, cracked pepper taste, smooth finish Price Point: $30…
