10 Goals Before I Get Hitched

Time flies when you’re having fun. Our engagement has flown by. It’s seems only yesterday that Jake was getting down on one knee at the Wisconsin lake house and proposing. Life is all bliss with Jake. It flies because everyday is another adventure.

While I can’t wait until I get married there are a few things I want to do for me before I am a “wifey.” A few things to get ready for the wedding and a few things to rid the stress/ constant hustle and bustle these days.

1.Run a 15k

Running is a passion of mine. I ran in high school and just for fun in college. I have run numerous half marathons, 5ks, 10ks, and one marathon. It just wouldn’t be a wedding without getting a run in before the big day. I am signed up to do the Hot Chocolate Run in Denver with my sister and I am super excited. Training for the race has been a beast. The stubborn part of me won’t give up Pure Barre; I can’t just do Pure Barre to train for a 15k, so I have been doing 2 a days. One more thing added to my plate, but I for some reason don’t know how to say no when it comes to being the healthiest me.

2. Meal Prep & Planning

I will be the first to admit I have fallen off the food prep and planning wagon. I used to be so good about planning all of our meals on Saturday/Sunday and going to get all the groceries. I have kind of been doing this, however not everyday and some weeks have been better than others. I love eating clean and it’s my goal to get us back on this weekly meal prep/food schedule before the wedding. It provides a bit more stability to our daily schedule, especially when lately our lives are running at 100 mph.

3. Pure Barre

I am officially writing it on the blog to make it more official than just my goal. I am bound and determined to hit 100 PB classes before the wedding. I am on track right now to hit 100 the day before I say “i do.”

4. Bachelorette Party

I am beyond excited for my bachelorette party in a week and a half. I am headed to Napa with 6 of my closest friends. I promise I will share all the details but not after the 7 of us indulge and take it all in.

5.  Get my hair colored

Another one of my goals for me. I have made the appointment to have my hair colored for fall and I couldn’t be more excited. I think I am going to go with a fall-ish blonde? I have the best stylist and colorist ever, so I really trust his judgement and tend to just say I want something like XXX and he makes it happen even better than I envisioned. I absolutely love getting my hair cut and colored. It’s so therapeutic and makes me no longer feel like “Hot (hotter) mess Jess.” My current situation is blonde balayage grown out and let’s just say it’s not the ideal look.

6. Rehearsal Dinner Dress

I had great thoughts of just wearing a flannel shirt dress for rehearsal, after all it’s Colorado, however I was persuaded after visiting Eden Boutique before my second wedding dress fitting this last weekend. I ended up purchasing this gorgeous designer dress from London that was on super sale. It reminds me of SJP in the Sex and the City II movie. It’s very couture and just a slice of heaven.

7. Sip wine in a sweater on our patio with my fiancé

At the end of the day when all is said and done there is nothing more blissful than cuddling outside in the cool weather in a sweater and a good glass of cabernet. I would love to say this goal has been planned to happen, but Ms. Mother Nature will determine if my goals/dreams come to fruition before the wedding. I love spending quality time with my fiancé, because even though we both work from home and one would think we would be sick of each other. The reality of the matter is we both have separate offices and don’t spend too much time together. We are both highly career focused and tend to stay on the path of wanting more and more success.

8. Get one last camping trip in

This summer has been the pits for camping in Colorado. We have had fire bans all summer long. We went camping once this summer but the mosquitos and flies ate us all alive. I am hoping to squeeze a late summer/early fall camping trip in and really embrace the cool weather.

9. Enjoy some hot apple cider and go pumpkin picking

I definitely don’t have this planned, but I need some pumpkins to decorate our house before the wedding. Yes, I am that basic bitch who can’t get enough of fall decor. I have already started decorating our house, but I am not quite finished. This goal will come to fuirition, the timing is just yet to be determined.

10. Make Apple Pie Shots

A true Wisconsin tradition and “thing” is apple pie shots. The first fall, Jake and I had together we spent a weekend in a mountain house with friends in North Carolina. I brought home made apple pie shots and they were gone the first night. I can’t wait to make a few bottles of these for gifts and to enjoy with friends around the campfire out back.
