Wedding Planning De-Stress

Planning a wedding is a huge undertaking. I have absolutely LOVED planning our wedding, but this doesn’t go to say that I haven’t had any stress. The stress is there and it’s really real. If I wasn’t stressed I would probably wonder what is wrong with me. The stress isn’t bad stress, it’s the stress that pushes and drives you to get stuff done.  It’s the stress of perfection.  While a little stress in a positive way is good, you need to ensure you have ways to cope with it. Below are a few of my tips and tricks to de-stress while planning a wedding.

  1. Self Pamper

You need to ensure you continue to pamper yourself. Take a bath, put a face or hair mask on and just let you be you. If you are feeling like splurging, go get a massage, facial or even a pedicure. I take baths, do face masks and hairs masks on a weekly basis. It keeps me feeling the freshest and best me.

  1. Enough Sleep

Getting enough sleep is super important.  I know I am preaching to the choir here, but really, get enough sleep. Lack of sleep causes more stress. I know, I am one to talk. There are definitely days I don’t get enough sleep, but for the most part I really really try to make sure I do. I notice the difference when I don’t and the lack of sleep Jess is definitely not the Jess I aspire to be. I am less on top of my game and less happy go lucky than normal.

  1. Stay Organized

I posted about wedding organization (linked here) this past fall. I highly recommend checking this article out. Staying on top of everything and keeping it all organized is key to keeping the wedding planning stress low. As mentioned in my wedding planning post I am using an Erin Condren planner (linked here). I am also using google docs and sheets to keep all of my spread sheets. These two items together have been the dream team of keeping me organized.

  1. Work Out

As Elle Woods said in the movie Legally Blonde, “Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands, they just don’t.” Gosh I love that movie, so happy they are making another. Anyways, back to working out. Find what works best for you. I am currently doing Pure Barre and it’s a godsend.  Check out my sweating for the wedding article here for additional workout tips and tricks.

  1. Take Care of You

Self care and love is extremely important. Don’t forget about “you.” As if “you” go down, the wedding planning goes down too. Check out the self care article I posted this week (linked here) for additional tips and tricks to take care of you.

  1. Take your Wedding Planning to your favorite coffee or wine shop

Who said wedding planning all had to be done at home in your office? Definitely not me. Make it fun! Head over to your favorite coffee shop or wine bar and do your planning. A glass of red wine or an Americano always makes those stressful vibes go away.

  1. One Step at a Time

Know that not everything can get done in one day. Use that amazing planner and organization system you have to keep marking things off your list one step at a time. Nothing great was every accomplished or built all in one day.

Now chin up buttercup and let the stress of planning a wedding melt away!

Cheers to you!
