Sweating For The Wedding

We are almost at the 5 month mark until our wedding. Gosh crazy! It feels like just yesterday that Jake was down on one knee proposing.I have officially begun my #SweatingForTheWedding workout routine. Why are you just starting now? We have a decent size engagement period (15 months) and thus there was  no reason to start incorporating the exercises needed for the wedding way out.

Self Image

I have said our entire engagement that I don’t plan on losing weight, but I do want to tone up areas. I am comfortable with who I am. It’s hard for me to see skinny/normal sized girls try to lose weight before their wedding. It isn’t a realistic portrayal of themselves. Don’t get me wrong, if you are larger or overweight, this is the perfect time to make that commitment to lose some pounds and KEEP THEM OFF. I emphasize the “keep them off” because I have seen so many brides work their behinds off losing the unwanted fat they have and then gain it back after the wedding.  Self care is super important, right along with self confidence. Ladies take care of yourself and don’t be afraid to be YOU!

Workout

While my normal schedule is to workout most everyday, I generally do mostly cardio and core. I have now started implementing booty and arms into my workout routine in addition to the cardio and core. I figured what better time to really kick my booty into gear than the week before my first wedding dress fitting. Am I right ladies?

Some of my favorite exercises:
  • Squats
  • Lunges
  • Sit-Ups (all the way up, not crunches)
  • Push Ups
  • Bent Over Rows
  • Bent Over Fly
  • Plank
  • Plank Rows
  • Russian Twists
  • Butt Lifts
  • Mountain Climbers
  • Reverse Crunches
Ideas to help jazz up your workout routine:
  • Do intervals. Do 20 or 30 seconds on (exercise) and 20 or 30 seconds off (no exercise).
  • Workout with a friend
  • Go to the park and do the exercises instead of the gym or your home.

Diet

Most people think diet means eating less. Wrong!

Merriam Webster dictionary:

a : food and drink regularly provided or consumed

  • Eats: I continue to eat as I always do, however I have and am trying to consume a few less carbs. (The reason I say I am going to eat as I always do is because we eat a boat load of healthy foods on a regular basis.) Carbs happen to be a favorite of mine, and they aren’t the most conducive to a beautiful figure.
  • Processed Foods: Processed foods are exactly how they sound, processed and ick. We don’t consume many processed foods and I highly recommend doing the same. I find when we do eat larger quantity of processed foods I am more bloated and just uncomfortable.
  • Beverages: I continue to drink at least 3 tumblers full of water daily, in addition to my green tea and coffee/espresso. Coffee makes the world go round and is a must for me.

Accountability

Hold yourself accountable not only for what you eat but for your exercise. Know that everyday isn’t going to be perfect. Some days exercise won’t happen or an unhealthy will occur. Take it with a stride and push extra hard the next day. Life isn’t perfect and so you can’t expect a #SweatingForTheWedding regimen to be perfect either. Below are some ways to try and hold yourself accountable so those “unperfect” days are fewer and far in between.

Ways to hold yourself accountable

  1. Get your bridesmaids involved. Make a group message and have everyone message the group everytime they complete a workout. This will not only motivate you but motivate them.
  2. Keep a #SweatingForTheWedding journal. Write down your exercise and what you eat everyday. I personally don’t write down what I eat everyday, but I do tend to have my daily workouts written in my planner. While I don’t write down what I eat everyday I know people who do and this helps hold them accountable for everything they intake.
  3. Add your workouts into your daily calendar/ planner.
  4. Create workout reminder alarms on your phone.

As always, don’t forget to have fun along the way. It’s super important to keep yourself calm and relaxed and as stress free as life can be.

Cheers!
