Margarita’s

It’s Taco Tuesday and what goes better with tacos than a fresh margarita. Yes you deserve one. I know it’s only Tuesday, but you have officially survived two early morning alarms and braved the rest of the world.

Margarita Ingredients

I have been on the hunt for the perfect margarita mix for years, and haven’t found one. They have either been too sweet, too bland or just funky. I haven’t given up my hunt, but instead have developed my own margarita mix that you can make in minutes right at home. I promise even the worst of mixologists can make these.

Making Margaritas

Additions
  • If you want a spicer margarita add a half or whole jalapeno into the simple syrup.
  • If you want a cilantro margarita add in cilantro to the simple syrup and a few sprigs to the margarita itself.
  • If you like a sweeter margarita add a splash of cointreau.

Margaritas

Ingredients
  • Simple Syrup
    • 2 Cups water
    • 1 Cup white sugar
    • ½ Lime
  • 1 ½ Shots tequila per drink
  • 2 Tbsp lime juice per prink
  • Large ice cubes
  • Margarita Salt
Preparation
  1. Add water, white sugar and half of lime to a small pot. When adding the lime ensure you squeeze it first and then add in the rind.
  2. Bring the simple syrup mixture to a boil until the sugar is completely dissolved. Boil for 3 minutes to let the lime flavor diffuse.
    • Add in Jalapeño to make simple syrup spicy
    • Add in cilantro to give your margarita a cilantro flavor
  3. Once the simple syrup is done let cool for 30 minutes. (It’s ideal to make the simple syrup hours or the day before you are making the margaritas.)
  4. Pour some Margarita salt on a plate. Wet the rim of your glass with lime juice and dunk in the salt, coating the top of the rim.
  5. Add a large ice cube to the margarita glass.
  6. Pour in the shot and a half into your glass.
  7. Add in the 2 Tbsp of lime juice.
  8. Top off with a ½ to a full shot of simple syrup depending on how sweet you want the margarita to be.
  9. Enjoy!
