Fourth of July Cocktail Hour

If you don’t know me or are just starting to follow my blog you know I am all about a good cocktail hour. We had the pleasure of hosting (which I LOVE to do) our old neighbors for an early Fourth of July get together this past weekend. It was a beyond fun evening, maybe a bit too much fun, but all with no harm.

I absolutely adore wine and love a good charcuterie and cheese board. While keeping it classy but simple I made these rose champagne spritzers and the most delicious charcuterie board. This combination is absolutely perfect for your Fourth of July get together cocktail hour. I used numerous fresh herbs from our garden to dress the charcuterie board up. To say it was a hit is an understatement as it was gone super fast.

Charcuterie Board Tips

  • Add at least 3 different cheeses. I recommend adding a hard cheese (such as parmesan), aged cheese (such as sharp cheddar), funky cheese (such as blue cheese), soft cheese (such as brie) and a fresh cheese (such as burrata or mozzarella).
  • Add a couple different meats. Some of our favorites are prosciutto and salami. There are so many different kinds of salami at Whole Foods, your taste buds are bound to not get board.
  • Fresh fruit. I tend to add whatever we have at the house. Our favorites are strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and grapes.
  • Add in some nuts. I love the wasabi flavored almonds, but you can really go any direction here.
  • Pickled veggies. We are super big fans of pickled veggies. I send to put whatever we have currently in the fridge on the platter.
  • Olives. I highly recommend visiting your local grocery store olive bar and picking up some fresh olives to put on the platter.
  • Dips and Jams. Again these are to your preference. Trader Joes used to have a delicious onion and garlic jam, however discontinued it. I tend to always have an olive tapenade and then whatever preserves we have at the time.
  • Crostini’s and Crackers. A lot of times your local grocery store will have homemade crostini’s made. I highly recommend picking up a pack of these. They send to be better than the manufactured ones. I tend to always buy either an everything cracker or rosemary cracker to add in as well.
