Pantry Organization

Pantry Goals

Give your pantry a face lift

Apron

Having an organized pantry is a must to the functionality of our everyday lives. When we first moved in our house a few years back we just threw everything in. It was a constant and weekly, if not more often, battle to keep it clean. I broke down one weekend and took an early morning drive to Target and the Container Store and went to town. I found so many things I had no idea we had and so many things that had expired and went bad. It was quite an eye opening experience.

PRE-PANTRY ORGANIZATION
  1. Do your research. Pinterest is a great spot to start.
  2. Decide what color scheme you are going for. Do you want colors to match your house or are you wanting to open the pantry and there be a pop of color?
  3. Measure. Take detailed measurements of the pantry. Height, width and depth.
PICKING THE ORGANIZATION MATERIALS

I was in awe when I went into the Container Store and Target at just how much stuff is out there to help you organize. It’s absolutely fabulous.

Things to think about when you are picking out your pantry organization:

  • Do you want your food exposed or would you like to just see the bins/containers/jars?
  • Do you want plastic or glass jars?
PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER

It’s now time to put it  all together.

First and foremost wash all the jars and containers you bought. You will want to make sure they are thoroughly dry before you place any food products in them.

Next,  I started by taking everything out of the pantry, and while I was doing it I started creating piles and categorizing items. If I ran across an item I wanted in a jar or container I placed it by the jar/container so it was all ready to be transferred.

Finally, I went through the categorized piles and threw out what was bad and placed in the bin what was good.  I also poured the products I decided I wanted in the jars/containers in them.

The last piece is to put it all in the pantry! Wa-La

MY FAVORITES

My two favorite bins in the pantry are the sugar candies bin and the chocolate bin. I am a sugar lover clearly. I absolutely love having the two types of “sugar” separate so that when I am craving one or the other I can easily find what I want. I also love keeping a variety in the house…you just never know.
