Live, Laugh, Love, Anxiety

Do you struggle with anxiety? Are you occasionally or constantly anxious? Why do we feel this way? Is it something to be shameful of or do we embrace it?

Society

In a society that has us constantly plugged in and believing one thing or another, it’s no wonder we are anxious. We don’t know how to unwind, or take a break. Our brains and tunneled into thinking 24/7. They are constantly racing from one thought to the next. They are constantly analyzing what we did, said or are about to do. At the end of the day where does this get us?

I have anxiety and take medication on a daily basis to help control it, and I am not ashamed to say so. I have talked to so many woman who feel ashamed that they have to take medication or get help in other ways to control their anxiety. Why do people feel this way? While the society we live in is becoming more and more acceptable of it and not placing quite as much negativity on having anxiety, it’s still not “acceptable.” It will only become more acceptable as more and more people talk about it.

My Story

I feel like there has always been some sort of me that has been anxious, but for many years it was manageable. It wasn’t effecting my life negatively and wasn’t causing me to live on edge. I would say the bigger turning point in my anxiety was loosing my Dad. After loosing him my anxiety took a turn an increased. I coped with it for a year, but realized I needed a bit more help. That’s when I went into the doctor.

It took a year and a half to find a medication that worked for me. It was hard, it was hard to not give up on myself and give up trying during that year and a half, but I knew I needed something and I needed it to help better me. To be able to live my life and flourish. After going from medications that made me nauseated 24/7 to medications that made me foggy headed, and everything in between I found one. I am apparently really sensitive to medication, so while most people take their medication when they start the day, I take mine when I go to bed, so I am not awake during the nauseating hours of it.

I share my story, so more people feel comfortable sharing those and getting the help they need. I hope more people can feel comfortable in their skin, and really embrace who they are. We aren’t all created equally and we aren’t perfect. There is no one that is perfect. We need to embrace who we are and all the bliss around us.

All Natural Anxiety Helpers

Get Enough Sleep

Getting enough sleep is super important. It helps rest not only your body but your brain. You brain needs rest. It needs a reset. I find not getting enough sleeps leads me to have more anxiety. There are numerous studies that have been done linking anxiety to sleep deprivation. Get some sleep!

Exercise

Exercise not only makes your body healthy, but it also helps anxiety and mental health. I exercise daily. This is one of the things my doctor always asks me about. Making sure I keep up my exercise routine. Not that I have to run a marathon everyday, but to ensure I am trying to help myself the best I can. I find exercising to be a super big stress and anxiety relief for me.

Hydration

While I am not sure if there is a direct correlation between being hydrated and less anxiety. Being hydrated does allow me to have better workouts which helps decrease my stress and anxiety. I also find being hydrated I just feel better and feel better about myself.
