Bridal Shower Fiesta

While reminiscing on my sisters magical wedding last weekend in Cabo, I decided to share all the details of the Bridal Shower Fiesta I threw her prior to the big day. What better way to shower the future bride with love than by throwing a fiesta. Especially because for as long as I can remember my sister has loved margaritas and tortilla chips. I would say they are her favorite foods. Who doesn’t love a fresh margarita and some tortilla chips?

Throwing parties is just so much fun. I love piecing together all of the details. From the small little things to the large overall design. There is just something magical to see your visions come to fruition. It is also all the bliss to see the smile and peer joy on people’s faces. Seeing others enjoy the moments in life is a treat in itself. Enjoy is exactly what everyone, including the bride did. It was a day and party beyond words, so while this post isn’t heavy on the verbiage I hope the pictures share the thousands of words I would like to say.

Location: Freezing cold Wisconsin

Theme: Fiesta

Welcome

Let’s get the party started. Upon entering guests were immediately asked to take a shot and grab a pop. I made mini margarita shots and then we had ring pops on the side.

Mini Margarita

After taking their shot guests were immediately whisked away to the balloon arch to take a picture with the soon to be Mrs. I had pictures taken of everyone with the Mrs. so she could easily get them developed into a post card and write them a thank you.

Decor

The highlight/ centerpiece of the decor was the balloon arch. This was so much easier to make than I thought it would be. I bought a balloon arch kit from Amazon and put it on together. I would definitely recommend using a balloon pump. Unfortunately, I overlooked this detail and didn’t buy a balloon pump, so we ended up using an air compressor. Due to the force of the air coming out of the air compressor we popped a few balloons, so a balloon pump really is a must. Next time I make one of these I will purchase a balloon pump.

Behind the balloon arch we did rose gold fringe curtains. This really tied the whole photo op area together. The balloon arch and curtains opened up to the dining room where all the tables were set for lunch.

In addition to the balloon arch we did tons of streamers and other bridal shower balloons. We had white tables clothes with gold polka dots for the food and margarita bar. I purchased little chalk boards from amazon and chalk pens and did all the signage for everything. Lastly, all the floral was done by me, myself and I, and flowers were purchased from Trader Joes. Flowers from Trader Joes are incredibly reasonably priced and made the perfect bouquets.

Margarita Bar

What’s a Fiesta without a margarita. We set up a DIY margarita bar. It was so much fun. Everyone who attended the shower got a personalized margarita cup with their name on it. I had the margaritas arranged in the shape of an “H” for the brides maiden last name “Hotter.” It’s the little touches like this that make the world of difference.

Margarita Bar Ingredients:

  • Fresh squeezed lime juice
  • Fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • Fresca (My Secret Ingredient)
  • Tequila
  • Ice

Food

Nacho and Taco Bar

What speaks Bridal Shower Fiesta more than a nacho bar. I left this part up to my mom, as this is in her area of expertise.

Components of the Nacho Bar

  • Shredded Salsa Chicken
  • Taco Meat
  • Lettuce
  • Cheese
  • Pico de Gallo
  • Salsa
  • Mexican Rice
  • Sour Cream
  • Guacamole
  • Refried Black Beans
  • Lime Tortilla Chips
  • Blue Tortilla Chips
  • Classic Tortilla Chips

Bridal Shower Games

We played two games for the bridal shower. The first was the toilet paper wedding dress game. Everyone get’s divided up into teams and then is given X amount of toilet paper rolls then you get X amount of time with your team. One person is the model and the rest of the group designs a wedding dress out of toilet paper on that person. At the end you have a fashion show; walk down the aisle and the bride to be picks the winner. I laughed so hard I almost peed myself doing this. It was quite the hilarious time. My group all took tequila bottles for our bouquets. (Insert laughing emoji face.)

In addition to the toilet paper wedding dress game we did a piñata. Again, what is a Bridal Shower Fiesta without a piñata. My mom actually made the pinata out of a heart ballon from amazon and then you use old new papers and cut them in strips and warm water with flower and make layers. Of course letting each layer dry after it’s complete. Once all the layers were done you spray paint it and wa-la.

Pinata Fillers

  • Scrunchies
  • Face Wipes
  • Booty Wipes
  • Mini Bottles of Alcohol
  • Gold eye masks
  • Headbands
  • Candy

Dessert

As the bride is gluten free (not by choice) we did gluten free confetti cupcakes from a local bakery. They were delicious and honestly I could not tell there wasn’t any gluten in them. It was an easy way to have dessert instead of having to set time aside to cut into a cake. Everyone could just grab a cupcake as they pleased.

Guest Gifts

In addition to the contents of the piñata and the guests customized margarita glass, everyone was sent home with a mini bottle of Patron and lime to make a margarita.

Conclusion

The Bridal Shower Fiesta was such a fun day. It was filled with so much love for my sister, aka the soon to be bride, which is exactly what a shower should be. She was showered with so much love, numerous fun gifts and great memories that she will hold on to for a life time.

My Two Cents

Throwing a traditional bridal shower didn’t really feel like it spoke my sister. When throwing a bridal shower really think about the bride and who they are and what they like. Do something fun. Think outside the box. Just because no one has ever done XXX doesn’t mean it can’t be done. Lastly, have fun with it. Don’t let throwing a shower stress you out.
